Weather · January
Frigiliana weather in January.
Cool, mild, very quiet. The lowest accommodation rates of the year, and three hundred days of usable winter sun.
What January feels like in Frigiliana
January in Frigiliana is the quiet month. Days top out at a mild 15–17°C with bright winter sun; evenings drop sharply once the sun goes, often to 7–9°C. Rain comes in bursts — typically a handful of wet days through the month rather than constant drizzle. The village empties of summer visitors, restaurant terraces thin out, and the pace slows down to something genuinely Spanish. A good month for long walks, long lunches, and the kind of trip where you sit on a terrace with a book.

Frigiliana vs Nerja in January
Frigiliana sits at 300m elevation, six kilometres inland and uphill from Nerja. That elevation difference makes the village consistently 1–2°C cooler than the Nerja coast — most noticeably in summer afternoons and evenings. In January, expect Nerja to be one or two degrees warmer on the warmest part of the day, with the gap narrowing in the cooler months. Sea temperatures (around 16°C) are the same whether you swim from Burriana or from one of the secluded coves at Maro.
