Weather · December
Frigiliana weather in December.
Mild and quiet. A craft market in the old town, a community belén, Christmas concerts, and a calm winter feel.
What December feels like in Frigiliana
December in Frigiliana is mild and understated. Days are 15–18°C on the sunny end and 12–14°C on the wetter ones; evenings drop sharply to 7–10°C once the sun goes. The village hosts a small Christmas market in the old town, a community-built belén (nativity scene), and a series of small concerts in the church and squares. Christmas itself is a quiet, family affair — the big Spanish gift-giving day is 5–6 January (Three Kings), not 25 December. New Year's Eve sees a low-key celebration in the plazas. The lowest accommodation rates of the year run through the month.

Frigiliana vs Nerja in December
Frigiliana sits at 300m elevation, six kilometres inland and uphill from Nerja. That elevation difference makes the village consistently 1–2°C cooler than the Nerja coast — most noticeably in summer afternoons and evenings. In December, expect Nerja to be one or two degrees warmer on the warmest part of the day, with the gap narrowing in the cooler months. Sea temperatures (around 17°C) are the same whether you swim from Burriana or from one of the secluded coves at Maro.
