La Posada Morisca.
A 12-room boutique hotel in the foothills of the Sierra Almijara, 1.5 km outside Frigiliana — with an infinity pool overlooking the Mediterranean and a restaurant on site. The most-established boutique stay in the area.
What it’s like
La Posada Morisca sits in the countryside above Frigiliana, with the Sierra Tejeda y Almijara Natural Park rising behind it and the Mediterranean glittering in the distance. The hotel is laid out as three room categories, each described as a "small farmhouse" with independent access, private terraces, and (in some) a wood-burning stove for cooler evenings.
The decor leans into the village’s Moorish heritage — terracotta floors, handmade tiles, colonial-style furnishings — without tipping into pastiche. The on-site restaurant draws on the regional food culture; the breakfast terrace is one of the prettiest places to start a day in this part of Andalucia. The infinity pool is a genuine focal point and better than most in this category of hotel.
Who it suits
- Couples on a romantic stay — the rural setting and quiet feel make it the village’s default special-occasion choice.
- Pet owners — explicitly welcomed.
- Remote workers on a longer stay who want a base outside the village hubbub.
- People who don’t mind a 15-minute walk into Frigiliana — or a short drive.
Things to know
- Set 1.5 km outside the village — beautiful but not walking-to-dinner-tipsy distance. A car or short taxi for evenings out.
- The hotel restaurant is good but not the only option — Frigiliana’s village restaurants are 5–10 minutes by car.
- Booking direct via the hotel website usually beats third-party portals on price (3% direct discount advertised).
- Open year-round; quieter and very atmospheric in the off-season.
How to book
We recommend going direct via the hotel’s own website (laposadamorisca.com) — direct booking usually saves a few percent vs. the platforms, and the small-team service is responsive. Otherwise the property is listed on Booking.com, TripAdvisor and the major OTAs.
For peak season (July–August + Tres Culturas weekend), book 3–6 months ahead. Rooms in this size of property go fast.
