Weather · October
Frigiliana weather in October.
Summer's long goodbye. The Romería pilgrimage in late October closes the festive year.
What October feels like in Frigiliana
October is when summer hands over to autumn. Days are a pleasant 23–25°C, evenings cool to a jumper-needed 14–16°C, the sea is still swimmable (around 21°C), and the countryside starts to green up again after the first proper rains. Walking and cycling are back in their best form. The Romería de la Virgen del Carmen pilgrimage closes out the festive calendar — horse-drawn carts head out from the village to a country hermitage, followed by a long day of music, dancing and shared lunches. A genuinely beautiful month and noticeably better-value than summer.

Frigiliana vs Nerja in October
Frigiliana sits at 300m elevation, six kilometres inland and uphill from Nerja. That elevation difference makes the village consistently 1–2°C cooler than the Nerja coast — most noticeably in summer afternoons and evenings. In October, expect Nerja to be one or two degrees warmer on the warmest part of the day, with the gap narrowing in the cooler months. Sea temperatures (around 21°C) are the same whether you swim from Burriana or from one of the secluded coves at Maro.
